The Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor the second has described the forthcoming African Senior Athletics Championing billed to take place in Asaba from August 1 to 5 as an avenue to advertise the hospitality and economic potentials of Delta to the international community.
Dr Efeizomor the second who is also the Traditional Ruler of Owa kingdom in Ika North East in Delta North Senatorial district stated this in an interview with Ejime Udueme at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium Asaba shortly after the dedication of the place to God.
He said he was impressed with the quality of work and facilities on ground for the event and commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his forthrightness and doggedness in the completion of the stadium on record time and for accepting to host the championship in Asaba the state capital.
The Traditional Ruler said the international event will also help the PDP government showcase to the world its laudable achievements in the last three years.
Obi Efeizomor called on Deltans to roll out their drums to welcome the August visitors expected to come from over forty five African countries for the event, pointing out that the prevailing peace in Delta has turned it to a safe haven for investors and tourists from all parts of the globe.
He also added that the event will also spur young athletes to develop interest in track and field events emphasizing that Delta State has remained number one in sports in the federation.
