There is tension in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State following an early morning attack by gunmen.
The incident, which reportedly happened around 7:30 am in the Ebem and Asaga areas, has claimed the lives of several policemen.
Although details remain unclear, eyewitnesses say the area has been deserted as residents fled in fear.
This tragic event comes just two days after two police officers attached to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives, were ambushed by gunmen in Umuahia. That attack on Sunday left one officer dead and another injured, while the driver narrowly escaped.
The state police command is yet to comment on the incident.
