El-Kanemi Warriors push Akwa United back Into relegation zone

El-Kanemi Warriors secured a 1-0 victory over Akwa United in Maiduguri, sending the 2021 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions back into the relegation zone after 13 matches of the 2024/2025 season.

The decisive moment came in the 17th minute when Mustapha I. calmly converted a penalty, sealing all three points for the Warriors.

The win lifts El-Kanemi Warriors to third place on the NPFL table with 22 points, while Akwa United remain in 18th place with just 12 points from 13 games.

The defeat piles pressure on Akwa United’s coach, Mohammed Babaganaru, and his team, who have struggled to find consistency this season.

Fans of the former champions will hope the team can turn things around soon, with the relegation battle heating up as the season progresses. Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors continue their impressive form, positioning themselves as strong contenders in the league.
