Senate Validates Oloworaran’s Appointment as PENCOM DG

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Bridget Omolola Oloworaran as Director General of the National Pension Commission, PENCOM.

The confirmation followed the report submitted to the Committee of the Whole by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, Cyril Fasuyi Oluwole, stating the nominee had been screened and possessed the pedigree to serve as Director General of the agency.

In his report, he said, the nominee possessed the requisite educational qualifications to serve in that capacity, adding that there was no encumbrance to her nomination, even as there was no petition from any quarter against her.

The lawmaker urged Senators to confirm the nominee without any delay to enable her to continue her saddled responsibilities.

“That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Establishment and Public Service on the confirmation of the nomination of Oloworaran Omolola Bridget for appointment as Director General of National Pension Commission, PENCOM.”

The nominee who hails from Kogi West Senatorial District was attested for her capacity and professional competence by Senators Sunday Karimi [APC Kogi West] and Jibrin Isah Echocho [Kogi East].

After putting it to voice vote by the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, who presided over plenary, she was confirmed as the Director General of PENCOM

In his remark, the Deputy Senate President commended the Committee for the thorough screening of the nominee, expressing the belief that she would work hard to reposition the agency.

“Let me commend the Committee of the Senate led by Senator Cyril. You have done a wonderful job by screening the nominee and you confirmed her pedigree to manage the office. This was also confirmed by Senators from her State.”
