Ousted Lagos lawmaker Mudashiru Obasa insists he was never removed after storming the House of Assembly complex on Thursday.
Obasa, who arrived at the premises at 11. 30 am, accompanied by civil defence operatives and armed policemen, maintained that he is not against following due process.
While speaking with journalists, he stated that impeachment is democratic and those involved must follow due process.
“Obasa is the speaker. I’ve never been removed. Impeachment or removal is democratic and constitutional but in doing that, you must follow the due process.
“I am not against that. If I do that, then I am not democratic,” Obasa said to members of the press.
Obasa’s unexpected arrival at the assembly premises sent shockwaves to lawmakers, especially with the absence of Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
Two lawmakers, Ayinde Akinsanya (Osmak), representing Mushin Constituency I, and Noheem Adams, representing Mushin Constituency II, accompanied the impeached speaker to the complex.
It was reported that the doors to Meranda’s office had been forced open by Obasa’s loyalists.
