D’Tigers’ Qualification For AfroBasket 2025 Gains Fresh Applause, As Customs BC’s Coach Abdulrahman Mohammed Sings Praises

Customs Basketball Club of Lagos coach, Abdulrahman Mohammed  has joined in celebrating the recent qualification of Nigeria’s men’s senior national team, D’Tigers, for this year’s African championship in Angola.

Sports247 reports that D’Tigers will be among the numbers in August when AfroBasket 2025 dunks off in three cities across Angola, ahead of which Coach Abdul disclosed that it is something he is glad of and already excited about.

Abdulrahman stated with a deeply mirthful tone, “I am happy we qualified. It’s Nigeria, and it’s our players. So, I’m happy for them. Anybody that will come and say they are not happy, probably it would be because he or she is not part of the system. We should all be happy.”

Coach Abdulrahman stressed that his biggest delight is that some members of the technical crew, led by former Gombe Bulls’ gaffer are his close friends, while two home-based players – Ifeanyi Koko and Ibe Abuchi – featured in the historic team that got victories over Uganda, Cape Verde and hosts Libya during the qualifiers.

“Personally, me I am happy. Besides, some of the coaches are my close friends. It’s not just because they are my friends, but because they will represent Nigeria; and I believe they will make us proud. Our team will be out there, and it will be in the records.

“That would give us something to talk about and argue with anybody about our standard. If only for these reasons, I think we should be happy for them and for ourselves that we qualified; especially as nobody believed we were even going to win one match,” Abdulrahman recounted.
