Remo Stars celebrates goalkeeper who gets Benin Republic call-up

Remo Stars have expressed immense pride and joy in their goalkeeper, Serge Obassa, after his recent call-up to the Benin Republic national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Obassa was named in a 25-man squad by head coach Gernot Rohr, which was announced on Monday.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is set to represent Benin Republic in two crucial qualifiers: against Zimbabwe on March 20 and South Africa on March 25.

Remo Stars shared their congratulations on social media, writing: “Obassa Adebiyi has received a call-up to the Benin Republic squad for this month’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, VS Zimbabwe on March 20; VS South Africa on March 25. Congratulations, Serge – we’re proud of you #WeAreRemoStars.”

Obassa, who joined Remo Stars from AS Cotonou in August 2024, has been a key figure in the team’s defense this season, making regular appearances as the Sky Blue Stars lead the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). His call-up is a significant milestone in his career, further highlighting his impressive form at the club level.
