Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Saturday expressed strong optimism that President Bola Tinubu would win an overwhelming majority, 99.9% of the votes, in the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio made this declaration during a grand reception held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to officially welcome Governor Umo Eno into the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Eno recently dumped the PDP, citing ongoing internal leadership crises as his reason for aligning with the ruling party.
While addressing the gathering, Akpabio commended the governor’s decision and predicted a successful political future for him under the APC.
“I see you struggled a bit, particularly to become the governor,” Akpabio said.
“But with my presence here today and that of my people, Your Excellency, things have turned around.
I see you becoming the first re-elected governor in Akwa Ibom in 2027. For you and the APC, everything is turning around for good.”
The Senate President concluded by expressing confidence in the party’s growing strength, asserting that both Governor Umo Eno and President Tinubu would see sweeping victories in the next general elections.
