As the 2025/26 Nigerian football league season approaches, the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has issued a strong call to action, urging professional footballers across the country not to suffer in silence in the face of contract violations or poor working conditions.
In a statement released by the union, NANPF advised players to take full advantage of its services to report any case of trade restraint, including unilateral or unjust contract terminations, non-payment of salaries, and other anti-labour practices commonly experienced within the domestic league system.

“It is well known that many clubs often relieve players of their duties without due process, leaving them stranded and unsure of what steps to take next,” the statement read.
“As an active professional footballer, the union exists to protect you, improve your working conditions, and defend your rights and status. Do not die in silence.”
NANPF also emphasized the effectiveness of the current Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players’ Status and Arbitration Committee, encouraging players to reach out for guidance on how to navigate disputes and protect their careers.
“We are ready to receive your complaints and provide you with professional advice and support. The NFF Arbitration Committee is efficient and professional, and with our help, you can safely and successfully engage with them,” the union added
