JUST IN: Tanker Explosion Disrupts Traffic on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A diesel-laden tanker overturned and exploded on Wednesday afternoon along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The explosion led to a fire that consumed multiple vehicles near the NASFAT area.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m., in the vicinity of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) zone — a densely trafficked corridor often congested during peak periods due to its proximity to residential and religious centres.

It is understood that the tanker lost control while in motion, toppled on its side, and immediately burst into flames. The resulting inferno engulfed several vehicles caught in its path, including both private cars and commercial buses.

At least four vehicles were confirmed to have been completely destroyed by the fire.
