
In a grand gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the Nasarawa State Government has announced a total cash reward of ₦75 million for athletes, coaches, and supporters who represented the state across various sporting events during the just-concluded season.
Governor Abdullahi Sule made the announcement during a ceremony held in Lafia, hailing the state’s sports ambassadors for their remarkable performances, particularly the Nasarawa Amazons, who finished as runners-up in both the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the President Federation Cup.

“The Nasarawa Amazons have shown immense promise, and I strongly believe that with time and continuous support, they will bring the trophies home,” the Governor stated.
As a result of their feat, the Nasarawa Amazons received ₦30 million, with ₦25 million earmarked for the players and ₦5 million for the coaching crew.
Nasarawa United, the state’s male team, was also recognized for their efforts. The players received ₦20 million, while the technical team got ₦5 million.
The Governor further allocated ₦10 million to the State’s Festival Team in recognition of their participation in national multi-sport events, and ₦5 million each to Nasarawa United Feeders and the Supporters Club for their consistent contribution and dedication.
Going beyond the official disbursement, Governor Sule also pledged personal donations to individual players of both teams, emphasizing his heartfelt gratitude for their role in putting Nasarawa State on the football map of Nigeria and beyond.
The move by the state government has been widely applauded by sports enthusiasts, with many describing it as a morale booster and a strong motivation for future exploits in both football and other sporting disciplines.
