The fixtures for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season have been released, with defending champions Remo Stars set to kick off their campaign at home against Rivers United on Friday, August 22.
Remo Stars, based in Ikenne, made history last season by becoming the first club from the Southwest to win the NPFL title in 25 years. They finished the campaign with 71 points from 38 matches, recording 22 wins, 5 draws and 11 losses.
Newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC will face a tough test on their NPFL debut with an away match against Rangers International. Barau FC, another new team in the top division, will host eight-time champions Enyimba International in their first league game.

The 2025/26 NPFL season promises to be exciting, with a record prize of ₦200 million for the eventual champions—an incentive aimed at raising the level of the competition.
Last season saw plenty of action, with 380 games producing 286 wins and 92 draws. A total of 552 goals were scored at home, over 1,180 cards were issued, and 16 penalties were missed.
Yusuf Anas finished as the top scorer with 18 goals, including two consecutive hat-tricks—an achievement rarely seen in the NPFL. He was followed by veteran Rabiu Ali, who scored 13 goals.
With four new clubs—Kun Khalifat, Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists, and Barau FC—joining the league, fans can look forward to an unpredictable and thrilling season across Nigeria.
