Rapper CDQ Reveals Why He Rejected Record Deal From Davido

  • Nigerian rapper CDQ discussed a potential record deal with Davido in a recent interview.
  • After CDQ’s hit song “Indomie,” Davido showed interest in signing him to his label.
  • The deal did not materialize due to a proposal from CDQ’s producer, Masterkraft, for a partnership arrangement instead of a traditional signing.

Nigerian rapper CDQ has revealed why a potential record deal with superstar Davido never materialized.

In a recent interview with Echo Room, CDQ explained that after his breakout hit “Indomie”, Davido expressed interest in signing him to his label. However, the deal fell through after his producer, Masterkraft, proposed a partnership arrangement instead of a traditional signing.

According to CDQ, Davido declined the partnership offer, and as a result, the collaboration did not proceed.

CDQ said, “Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then that he wanted to sign me. He told me he just made a lot of money from his African tour and wanted to invest it in money and make me the biggest rapper in Africa.

“I told him whatever I’m doing, Masterkraft has to be involved. So, me and Masterkraft went to a meeting with him, and he told him that CDQ is already a movement on the streets and should consider a partnership instead of a recording deal but Davido decline and the deal fell through.”
