Enugu 2023 APC House of Assembly Candidates Urge Governor Mbah to Join Party

The 2023 House of Assembly Candidates’ Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has appealed to Governor Peter Mbah to defect to the ruling party, declaring that they are tired of playing opposition politics.

The call was made on Monday during a press conference in Enugu, where the forum’s coordinator, Barrister Godwin Onwusi, said a formal letter had already been sent to the governor requesting his membership in the APC.

“With all humility and respect, we the undersigned APC, Enugu State, House of Assembly candidates during the 2023 general elections hereby passionately appeal to you to favourably consider joining our great party,” the statement read.

Onwusi said the appeal followed the group’s assessment of Mbah’s leadership in the past two years, which they believe aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The quantum and unprecedented developmental strides you have brought to Enugu State within a short period have renewed the hope of Ndi Enugu that government can truly work for the people,” he said.

He expressed optimism that Governor Mbah’s defection would strengthen the APC’s chances of winning elections in the state and foster closer ties with the Federal Government, enabling more developmental benefits.

The appeal comes less than 48 hours after members of the APC Progressive Group, led by former state chairman Dr. Ben Nwoye, endorsed both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mbah as their preferred candidates for the 2027 general elections.
