2027: PDP Vows Fresh Sanction for Erring Members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has warned members against moves to frustrate its congresses set for September 20 and 27.

Speaking in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the state’s Legal Adviser, Mr. Nura Bello, said the party will not hesitate to discipline those found undermining the process.

Bello stressed the congresses will go ahead as planned.

“Our party at the national level has already constituted a Disciplinary Committee to deal with any member found engaging in anti-party activities or sabotaging the congresses,” he told reporters.

Bello also reacted to a court order that went viral on social media on September 18. The order had suggested that congresses in Kano and Kebbi were suspended.

He explained that the PDP quickly filed for the order to be lifted, adding that the court vacated it after finding that there was no jurisdiction and that “Kano was not even among the states scheduled to hold congresses on the said dates.”

Mr Bello had accused some party members in Kebbi of fueling the case in court. According to him, such matters should have been filed at the state High Court instead of being taken to another jurisdiction.

The PDP urged its supporters to come out for the congresses as planned, insisting the exercise will go ahead on the scheduled dates.

Recall that the party in August vowed to sanction former Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, and other members accused of engaging in anti-party activities.
