IJE AWELE MOVEMENT INAUGURATES NEW EXECUTIVES, PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOVERNOR MBAH*

The Ije Awele Movement, a prominent socio-political advocacy group in Enugu State, has inaugurated its new executive leadership with a resounding declaration of support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Commending what it described as his transformational leadership and groundbreaking reforms in just two years in office.

The ceremony, which brought together members and coordinators from across the state’s three senatorial Zones, combined the swearing-in of new leaders with the formal adoption of a communiqué that passed a vote of confidence on the governor.

At the event, Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe was inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, while Hon. Kingsley Ezinwa assumed the role of Director General. The movement also unveiled its zonal and local government coordinators who, according to its leadership, will be responsible for strengthening grassroots mobilization and deepening the movement’s core ideals of transparency, accountability, and people-centered governance.

In a unanimous declaration, the movement described Governor Mbah as a visionary who has restored the dignity of Enugu State and elevated it to pride of place in the South East and the nation at large. Recalling its 2023 pre-election assessment of governorship candidates, the group said it had identified Mbah as the only contender with the pedigree, professional background, and economic expertise to reposition Enugu as a major hub. Two years on, it said, his record of achievements has more than vindicated that choice.

It was against this background that the movement adopted the following communiqué:

*OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ FROM THE IJE AWELE MOVEMENT*

*DECLARATION OF UNWAVERING SUPPORT FOR HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. PETER MBAH, AND COMMENDATION OF HIS EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP IN ADVANCING THE SOCIO-POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC RENAISSANCE OF ENUGU STATE*

Date: September 22, 2025

Gentlemen of the press, Distinguished members of the Ije Awele Movement, Fellow citizens of Enugu State, Ladies and gentlemen,

We stand before you today, on behalf of the entire membership of the Ije Awele Movement, to address a matter of great importance to the future and continued progress of our beloved state.

The Ije Awele Movement was founded on the singular principle of advocating for and promoting good governance. Our core ideology is centered on transparency, accountability, and the delivery of tangible development projects that directly improve the lives of our people. We believe that true leadership is measured by its impact, and true progress is validated by visible transformation.

In just two years, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah has restored the dignity of Enugu State. He has transformed Enugu State into the pride of the East and the nation at large.

It is in this spirit, and after careful deliberation and a thorough review of his administration’s performance, that the Ije Awele Movement has resolved to, without reservation, declare our total support to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

We also call on Ndi Enugu to continue to support Dr. Peter Mbah for his visionary leadership and economic transformation of Enugu State.

Our decision is not based on mere political affiliation but on a solid foundation of concrete achievements and a shared vision for a prosperous Enugu. Dr. Mbah’s administration has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to good governance, as evidenced by his relentless pursuit of impactful projects across various sectors.

We recall that in 2023, the Ije Awele Movement profiled all candidates that were running for the office of the governor of Enugu State. We took particular interest in the person of Dr. Peter Mbah because of his professional background, his exposure in the business world and the visible success he had achieved in business. We said that what Enugu State needs at this time is a leader that can give a quantum leap to the economy of Enugu State so we can become a major economic hub in Nigeria.

Fast forward to two years later, Enugu State has witnessed tremendous development trajectory. We are amazed at Dr. Peter Mbah’s achievements in just over 2 years. We have witnessed the implementation of foundational projects that align perfectly with our movement’s ideology. These include massive infrastructural development with a focus on urban and rural road networks that connect communities and facilitate trade, the completion of the International Conference Centre and the hosting of various national events in Enugu, the overhaul of the transport sector with the launch of CNG buses, modern terminals and the unveiling of Enugu Air, the establishment of Smart Schools across the state which will shape future global leaders, transformative strides in agriculture through modern farm estates and a strategic land bank, consistent support to farmers with improved inputs that guarantee food security, significant investment in human capital with emphasis on healthcare and education, construction of new health centres across the state, economic policies that attract both foreign and local investment creating jobs and expanding the state’s base, and a robust security architecture made possible by surveillance cameras, a Command-and-Control Centre, and the DRS Security Service.

These achievements are not just a list of projects; they are a direct validation of the good governance principles that the Ije Awele Movement holds dear. Dr. Mbah has proven that he is a leader who not only talks about development but actively implements it, demonstrating a clarity of purpose and an unwavering focus on the welfare of Enugu citizens.

With all of these achievements done in just two years, we are confident that with our continued support for Dr. Peter Mbah, he will lead us on a journey towards sustained progress, prosperity, and a better future for every citizen of Enugu State.

We, therefore, call on Ndi Enugu to join us in supporting Dr. Peter Mbah to continue to deliver good governance to the people of Enugu State so that we can enjoy improved livelihoods in our dear state. His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah has truly restored the dignity of Enugu State. We beam with pride when people from other states talk about the new Enugu State in glowing terms.
