Tennis star Novak Djokovic will play at the Shanghai Masters next month, tournament organisers confirmed on Tuesday.
“He’s back… Our 4-time champ will return to Shanghai this year,” organisers announced on social media. The event begins on 1 October 2025.
Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner, has not played any official matches since losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open semi-finals earlier this month.
After that defeat, the 38-year-old did not confirm many plans for the rest of the season, and he has taken part in fewer tournaments in 2025 compared to previous years.
So far, Djokovic has only confirmed he will play the Athens Open (an ATP 250 event) from 2–8 November, which replaced the Belgrade tournament this year.
His appearance at the Paris Masters (27 October–2 November) and the ATP Finals in Turin (9–16 November) is still uncertain.
Djokovic has won the Shanghai Masters four times – in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018.
