Jaylen Brown scored 30 points to help the Boston Celtics beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 125–105 on Wednesday night at TD Garden.
Brown made 12 of his 20 shots, including four 3-pointers. Eight Celtics players scored in double figures.
Sam Hauser came off the bench to score 21 points, hitting seven 3-pointers. Derrick White added 19 points. The Celtics made 21 of their 57 attempts from beyond the arc.
Josh Minott had 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Neemias Queta finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Anfernee Simons scored 14 off the bench, and both Payton Pritchard and Luka Garza added 10 points each.
The win was Boston’s second straight after starting the season 0–3.
Cleveland’s three-game winning run ended with the loss. The Cavaliers scored 42 points in the first quarter but couldn’t manage more than 25 in any of the remaining three quarters.
All five Cleveland starters scored in double figures. Evan Mobley and Jaylon Tyson each scored 19 points, De’Andre Hunter had 18, Jarrett Allen added 16, and Donovan Mitchell finished with 15 but didn’t score in the second half. Mobley also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Cleveland played without Sam Merrill, who is out with a hip injury from Monday’s win over Detroit. Merrill had started all four of the Cavaliers’ previous games.
Cleveland led 42–40 after the first quarter, but Boston closed the second quarter with a 20–3 run to take a 75–60 lead at halftime. Brown scored 22 of his 30 points in the first half.
The Celtics extended their lead to 19 points midway through the third quarter and led 98–85 going into the fourth. Cleveland never got closer than nine points after that, and Hauser’s seventh 3-pointer with 1:17 left gave Boston its biggest lead of 20 points.
