Anyanwu Speaks On Wike’s Stance Amid PDP Crisis

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has insisted that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, had not abandoned the party, despite the ongoing crisis.

Naija News reports that Anyanwu stated this on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday.

Anyanwu also defended his relationship with Wike despite criticism, stressing that the Minister resurrected the PDP when the party was in ruins.

He said, “When Wike, Makinde, Ugwuanyi, Ikpeazu and Ortom were doing G5, I was not part of it. Yet Wike is my very good friend. When the PDP was in ruins, it was Wike who resurrected the party.”

Speaking further, the former PDP governorship candidate in Imo State said that despite the crisis rocking the PDP, the main opposition party is not dead.

Anyanwu expressed optimism that the PDP would navigate through its stormy waters and bounce back to being a preferred party.

He added, “PDP is not dead, and PDP cannot die. Even if somebody is in an intensive care unit, the person can still recover.”

Meanwhile, Anyanwu has accused the immediate past factional national chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, of being responsible for the crisis rocking the party.

Anyanwu made the comment following the party’s just-concluded national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

While responding to questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Monday, Anyanwu described the party convention as a jamboree and illegal.

According to him, Damagun is incompetent, and he caused problems in Abuja.
