PDP Kicks Off 2025 National Convention in Ibadan [PHOTOS]

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday formally opened its 2025 Elective National Convention, tagged #Ibadan2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

According to the party, more than 3,000 delegates, including governors, National Executive Committee members, Board of Trustees members, and other key stakeholders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, converged on the venue for the historic gathering.

The two-day convention, holding from November 15 to 16, will conclude with the election of a new National Working Committee, including a National Chairman, who will lead the party into the 2027 general elections. This was disclosed in a statement issued by Babangida Umar on the PDP’s official X handle on Saturday.

The event comes after months of delays, factional disagreements, and attempts by some groups to involve INEC and the courts to stop the convention from proceeding.

The PDP described Ibadan, with its upgraded infrastructure and world-class facilities—as a fitting host city, drawing parallels with the party’s landmark 1998 Jos convention.

Further updates from the convention are expected as proceedings continue.
