Benin Republic vs Nigeria: Predicted Super Eagles starting XI

As Nigeria’s Super Eagles prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Thursday, November 14, 2024, SportsRation’s Nsikakabasi Akpan predicts the starting XI for the game.

Nigeria is just one point away from securing their place in the 2025 tournament to be held in Morocco. Coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation as the Super Eagles.

Predicted Lineup

Goalkeeper: Stanley Nwabali

Defenders: Calvin Bassey (Centre-back) – William Troost-Ekong (Centre-back) – Ola Aina (Right-back) – Bruno Onyeamachi (Left-back)

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka providing a strong anchor, combining defensive duties with the ability to initiate attacks, with Alex Iwobi positioned as the attacking midfielder.

Attackers: Since the appointment of Eguavoen as Super Eagles interim coach, Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has led the attack but there could be a change with Victor Osimhen back to full fitness.

So I am predicting, Ademola Lookman (Left Wing) – Victor Osimhen (Central Striker) – Moses Simon (Right Wing)

Historically, Nigeria has had the upper hand in this matchup, winning three of their last four meetings, but the Super Eagles will need to be at their best to ensure they don’t repeat past mistakes.
