Achievers Cup 2024: Ebere Akano Francis Dedicates Goal To His Teammates As Team CANDL Inflicts First Loss On Team Prossy

Team CANDL’s Ebere Akano has dedicated his goal that defeated Team Prossy to his teammates at the ongoing Achievers Cup Lagos on Saturday.

The match which took place at the Lagos Business School, Lekki/ Ajah on Saturday saw Team CANDL secured first win of the competition by beating Team Prossy by a lone goal courtesy of Ebere’s second half goal.

Ebere Francis Akano loses his marker on the far left, and got himself into a good scoring position in the box.

He then tapped the ball into an empty via a timely cross from the right, which beat former Super Eagles Goalkeeper Uche Akubuike in goal for Team PROSSY as Team CANDL ran away with the maximum three points.

The special goal also ensured that Team Prossy tasted defeat for the first time in the competition after five matches as they dropped from the first to the second position on the league table.

Ebere Francis spoke to our correspondent after the match, and declared his joy for scoring the goal that secured his team’s first ever victory in the competition.

The tall midfielder went on to dedicate the goal to his teammates for always giving their best and for the extra determination that saw them defeated the highly rated Team Prossy.

” Firstly, I thanked God, I am very happy to find myself in that good scoring position and able to score the only goal of the match which gives us this sweet victory against a very good Team Prossy side.’

” It’s a team game , I gave my special thanks to my teammates for the goal, I feel happy to be at the right place at the right and scored the game”

Ebere Akano Francis spoke further on why it took them so much time to win their first game in the 2024 Island All Stars Sports Club Achievers Cup, sponsored by Providus Bank.

” We have always wanted to win our game but something will just go wrong in the dying minutes after putting in some much energy but with extra determination and motivation we are able to get the win”

The result puts Team CANDL at an advantage to secure the third place if they can avoid a loss against Team Kendoriz in their last match of the competition after amassing four points in five games while Team Kendoriz has two points in the same number of matches.

Meanwhile, Ebere Akano Francis said Team CANDL will be going all out for a victory in their game against Team Kendoriz.

” We are looking forward to putting in our best and going for a win as usual and finishing the competition on a high”, Ebere Francis stated.
