Governor Fubara Sends Message to Rivers Traditional Rulers, Speaks on Peace, Security

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reassured traditional rulers in the state of his administration’s commitment to addressing their concerns, particularly on issues related to peace, security, development, and the well-being of the people in their domains.

Speaking at the 119th/120th Combined Quarterly General Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers (RSCTR) in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara emphasized that his government operates an open-door policy and remains committed to its pact with the people of Rivers State to ensure a good quality of life for all.

The governor highlighted the importance of traditional rulers in promoting peace, security, and development in their domains. “As you are aware, after the local government councils, traditional rulers are the best partners we have to translate the development aspirations of the grassroots into reality,” he said.

“The good news is that you have a governor and government in us who are able, ready, and willing to work with all of you to actualise our collective vision for a peaceful and secure state with the best socio-economic environment and opportunities for all,” he added.

Governor Fubara also commended the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to fostering unity, peace, and progress in Rivers State.

The governor assured the monarchs that they are held in high esteem, promising to respect their institution as long as they uphold its sanctity and avoid conflict with the government or the law.

In his remarks, Eze Worlu-Wodo commended Governor Fubara for reinstating the glorious traditions of the state, including the provision of Christmas bonuses to civil servants and financial assistance to stakeholders and traditional rulers.

The Rivers State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Engr Charles Amadi, also praised the governor for his immense support to the council and his unwavering respect for traditional rulers in the state.
