JUST IN: Law Admission Suspended in 8 Universities [FULL LIST]

Eight universities across the country have been suspended from admitting fresh candidates for law degree programmes.

The universities were suspended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

The spokesperson for JAMB, Fabian Benjamin who announced the new development said the decision was taken after the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme by the Council of Legal Education.

Admissions for Bachelor of Laws programme was suspended by the council for the 2025/2026 academic session at the affected institutions.

Benjamin in a statement said, “As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enroll in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Below is a list of the universities affected by JAMB’s suspension of law programme

1. Kwara State University Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State

2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State

3. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State,

4. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State

5. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State.

6. Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State

7. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State

8. Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State

Benjamin further noted that the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy would last for two academic sessions, specifically, the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.

“Furthermore, the ban on registration for the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session”, Benjamin said.
